Why is Dr. Satish Dhawan considered brilliant space scientist?


Dr. Satish Dhawan was a brilliant rocket scientist who is considered to be the father of experimental fluid dynamics research in India. He was the chairman of the Space Commission, and Secretary the government of space.

Dr. Dhawan had worked at the Indian Institute of Science, or IISc in Bangalore, and is credited with the setting up of the first supersonic wind tunnel in India at IISc. His efforts contributed to operational systems like INSAT- a telecommunications satellite, IRS- the Indian remote sensing satellite and the Polar Satellite Launch vehicle. He passed away in 2002, and  India's satellite launch center at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, was renamed as prof. Satish Dhawan Space Center in honor of his memory.
